All clear - phew

Got the all-clear from my breast screening today - what a relief! Waiting for those results is always a bit nerve-wracking.

Next up is a bowel screen (the joys of getting older, right?).

National Roadie Day

May 19th - National Roadie Day.  Celebrating the amazing folk who work ridiculous hours to make sure the concert happens.  No Roadies - No Show.  Thank you!

Dorothy Gorden Grevillea

My favourite Grevillea - named after renowned Australian water colourist and botanical artist who painted Australian native flowers.  Isn't she beautiful?

"As you get older....

....three things happen: The first is your memory goes, and I can’t remember the other two."

- Norman Wisdom

Found this note on the wall next to my car in the garage - I think someone is trying to tell me something?

Aaaand done for 2026

Getting your boobs squished isn’t exactly pleasant - it’s not terrible, just a bit… well, squishy. I’d put the pain level at about a one, so really, not that bad. Honestly, the hardest part of the whole process is waiting for the results. Now it’s just a matter of crossing my fingers for a clear outcome.

Another day, another plant photo.

This time it's a rosella plant that I saved from a stand outside a country petrol station.  It was very sick and looked to be on her last legs - I didn't really thing it would live.

But here she is today - six months later, flowering and bearing fruit.

Shortly she will be going on a journey to Nanango to live in her forever garden.  It might sound a bit strange, but it really does make me happy knowing that this plant has a second chance to grow and bloom.

What to do on a rainy day?

Go out and enjoy it, of course!

Let the rain wash over you—dance through it, splash in puddles, arms wide, spinning around, head tilted back, laughing with your mouth open, feeling the tiny droplets on your lips and tongue.

When you’re completely soaked in rainy goodness, head inside for a warm shower, slip into your cosiest clothes, and curl up with a hot cup of tea, savoring how amazing it feels to be refreshed and cleansed by nature.

That's what I do when I remember how important it is to play.

A day amongst the trees

We (ALMA) spent the day at the Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve as a surprise treat for L who’s been going through a rough patch lately.

Since it was her birthday, we wanted to make it extra special, so we bundled her into the car in the morning without revealing where we were headed and set off on our adventure! It turned out to be an amazing day—we walked a lot, talked non-stop, laughed even more, and shared plenty of hugs and chats with the trees.

Life Hack: when you don't have it - make it

When I send a parcel through AusPost, I like to cover the box so it doesn’t look too much like standard post packaging. I couldn’t find the tissue wrap I wanted for my brother-in-law’s parcel today, so I figured, “I’ve got plain tissue paper, some paint, and I kinda know how to paint watery leaves.”

I gave it a go, and I think it turned out quite nicely.

Mothers Day

I’m proud of many things I’ve accomplished in life, but nothing compares to being my children’s mother.

Love my prezzies - thank you my darlings!

Lost Sock Memorial Day

In memory of the partners to these two socks, which vanished about ten years ago. I’m still baffled as to where they could have ended up. I really loved those socks!

Lost meaning

My brother Mik made this pendant for me years ago, and I’ve forgotten what the three circles symbolize. He passed away in 2018, and seeing it always gives me a bittersweet, MacArthur Park kind of feeling. I’ll never get the chance to ask him about it again, and I wish I’d paid closer attention when he gave it to me.
